Oregon Wine Board Research Projects

Since the mid 1980's, the Oregon winegrape industry has funded research that meets the needs of both viticulture and enology in the state. Early reports were published yearly for the Oregon Wine Board and are now available and archived on the OSU website. To view past research reports, please click here.

For the 2009-2010 fiscal year the OWB will fund eight research projects, totaling $211,978. Thank you to the Oregon Wine Board Research Committee who reviewed, evaluated and prioritized the 28 research proposals we received, totaling more than $1 million in requested funding.

Oregon Wine Board Research Process

The OWB program is now streamlined with the Unified Grant Management for Viticulture and Enology.  The OWB Research Committee determines the Oregon wine industry’s top research priorities, which are then voted in by the Board.  Proposals are evaluated on relevance, budget, and staff/facility resources.  The Research calendar follows the Oregon Wine Board’s fiscal year, which runs July 1-June 30.
