OWB target markets

Japan
The long relationship between Oregon and Japan continues.   Alliances with key importers and distributors extend OWB's communications to Japan's beverage industry that is increasingly winecentric yet challenging. Biannual trade tastings, educational seminars and promotions are the key of activities while media relations work to keep Oregon and it's wineries at top of mind for wine professionals and consumers alike. Reverse trade missions to Oregon for Oregon Pinot Camp and the International Pinot Noir Celebration help establish long-term alliances throughout Japan.

Europe
Oregon's efforts in Europe are currently centered in London with growing efforts in Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. In 2013 Oregon wineries will attend ProWein in Dusseldorf to expand the reach of Oregon's message and global market share as increasing European regions expand their interest and desire of New World wines.

Represented by Hilltop Wines in the U.K., Oregon currently Perseus wine trade and media programs through trade tastings, seminars and reverse trade missions with Oregon visitors attending either Oregon Pinot Camp or the International Pinot Noir Celebration. The key trade event in London occurs in January with a joint trade and media tasting allied with the Washington Wine Commission. The program focuses on regionally specific seminars and a walk around, self-pour, trade tasting. The nature of the event is such that wineries do not need to attend to have their wines and winery information presented. It is an inexpensive way to be in front of key U.K. decision makers without the cost of travel.

Canada
The diverse Provinces of Canada and proximity to Oregon provide increasing opportunity for wineries to establish long-term relationships and customers with our Northern neighbors. In 2012 a renewed focus developed with a program titled Oregon Takes Vancouver B.C., with a trade seminar and tasting followed by an evening event for wine consumers. The immense success of the program will have it carried to other provinces annually. Our marketing partner in B.C., House Wine, will assist in our expanding efforts.

China/Hong Kong
The most frequently requested markets for information and activities, program in China and Hong Kong are currently in development. Joint programs with Washington allow for careful development of what is believed by many to be a key, long-term opportunity. In October of 2012 the OWB applied for a Value Added Producer Grant in hopes to increase funding to focus on these markets. More details will be posted as available.
